Summary: The Behaviorist will work as part of the Crisis Team to deliver interventions and provide support to classrooms that promotes the social and emotional development of students. This position is a 0.5 FTE at Halifax Elementary School.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have one of the following (or similar) credentials: Board Certified Behavior Analyst, LICSW, Psychologist, LMHC, etc.
Prior experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention for students with challenging behavior
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Behavior Support Plans
- Implement and train other staff on individualized behavior support plans
- Collect data pertaining to student behavior and efficacy of interventions
- Develop individualized social emotional IEP goals and objectives
- Plan and implement social skills groups
- Facilitate social, play skills, language and appropriate behavior throughout the school day
- Develop and implement skill acquisition programs
- Log student incident reports and time out logs for clinical review team
- Participate in training in relevant areas
- Provide support throughout the school day to ensure the safety of the children in all environments
- Provide classroom coverage when needed
- Execute other duties as necessary and assigned by the building principal

- Must possess the ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis and have the ability to move quickly from standing to floor and floor to stand.
- May be required to physically restrain students in situations where there is a risk of serious and imminent harm.
