TITLE:
Daily Substitute Teacher
LOCATION:
All schools are currently seeking substitute teachers. Substitute teachers may choose to work in a specific school or schools, or to work in all of the district schools.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Substitute teachers performs teaching and supervision duties in the absence of regular classroom teachers and help provide continuity for students.

Building Principal
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Substitute teachers do not need to be certified by DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education).
Interested candidates with DESE licensure are strongly encouraged to apply.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
All prospective employees must undergo state-mandated criminal background checks (ie., CORI, SORI, and SAFSIS) and be deemed suitable for employment.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment described reflects conditions an employee may encounter while performing this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
The employee may be regularly required to move and travel throughout and around the building(s). The employee may also be required to remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee may be required to reach with hands and arms and sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is expected to lift at least 20 lbs (i.e. books, school supplies, etc.). The employee may frequently use hands and fingers. The employee may operate a computer and other office productivity devices (i.e., a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.).
The employee must be able to input information into a computer and read a computer screen and other printed materials. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members in person and on the telephone. The employee must be able to monitor students on a continuous basis in order to ensure the safety of students as well as speak frequently to provide directions. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a typical school environment with an expected level of noise. With the entire school community, the employee shares responsibility for students’ safety and their physical and emotional well-being.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Substitute teachers are at-will employees paid on a per diem basis, at a rate of $110 per day.
